Daniel T. Munger

Daniel T. Munger is the inventor of an improved saw screw process.

Colorized illustration of parts in die, before joining.

Rather than casting or soldering a screwhead to the shank, the two parts are cold-forged together by hammer in a specially designed die. The sloped sholder keeps the shank from pulling through the head.

See Pat. 98,180 (Dec. 21, 1869) for full details of the invention. Alternate link to DATAMP record.
